Chapter 8
Mila
I was alone when I woke, naked in a strange bed. Magnusâs bed. I could smell his scent clinging to the bedclothes. Checking the bedside clock, I saw it was 2 AM.
I felt⦠different. Not only because Iâd given my virginity to a man I barely knew but also on a fundamental level. As if my very DNA had been altered.
Iâd wanted to give him all of me. No one had ever made me feel so wanted, so desired. And Iâd never wanted someone the way I wanted him. Still wanted him.
Magnus had shown me pleasure I could never have imagined. My world had narrowed to him. Heâd been all that mattered. His skin against mine. His cock buried deep inside me. The avalanche of pleasure that came with his bite. The bite!
My fingers sought the puncture marks where my neck met my shoulder, probing the tender spots. God, the pleasure when his teeth sank into my flesh.
I stood, wincing at the soreness between my legs. Grabbing a robe from the hook on the back of the door, I wrapped it around me, inhaling Magnusâs scent of pine and leather.
When I entered the living area, Magnus was sitting at the dining table, a laptop open in front of him. He stood when he saw me, moving toward me and tugging me into his arms. Then his lips were on mine, his tongue spearing inside as he ravished my mouth. I melted into him with a moan, sliding my hands into his hair and holding him to me as he kissed me like a man starving for my touch, my taste.
We were both breathless when he finally pulled away.
âWhat are you doing?â I asked breathlessly.
His expression darkened, and he looked grim. Lacing our hands, he tugged me toward the couch. âCome and sit. Thereâs something I need to tell you.â
My heart pounded. âWhat is it? Has something happened? The blackmailerâ ââ
Magnus places a finger over my lips as we sit. Then his hand moves to my neck, his fingers smoothing gently over the puncture marks of his bite. âWhen I bit you, we sealed our bond.â
I nodded. âYes, I know. I wanted it. I donât regret it.â
His smile was soft. âNeither do I, sweetheart. Iâve never felt so close to anyone. Youâre my world now.â
âI feel the same,â I murmured, cupping his cheek.
He turned his face to kiss my palm. âWhen I bit you, I sensed something⦠extraordinary. Something I never expected.â
My brow furrowed with curiosity and a hint of apprehension. "What is it, Magnus? You're scaring me."
Magnus took a deep breath as if steeling himself for what was to come. "You're not entirely human, Mila. You're a shifter too."
My eyes widened in disbelief, my heart battering my ribs. "What? That's impossible! I'm just a regular woman. Iâm not a bear shifter."
Magnus took my hands in his, his gaze steady and unwavering. âNo, youâre not. Youâre a wolf shifter. I know it sounds insane, but it's true. Think about it. Have
